Bebe King, the youngest of the three girls slain in the knife assault in Southport, has had a burial.

At a Taylor Swift-themed dancing class in the Merseyside town on July 29, the six-year-old, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar were all slain.

According to Bebe's parents, Genie, her nine-year-old sister, saw the attack but was able to flee.

Instead of encouraging visitors to burn a candle in her memory, the family asked for seclusion before and after the Southport service.

Bebe was characterized as a "sweet, kind, and spirited girl" who was "full of joy, light, and love" by her parents, Lauren and Ben King.

They said that Genie displayed "incredible strength and courage" , stating: "Her resilience is a testament to the love and bond she shared with her little sister, and we will continue to support her as we navigate this painful journey together as a family."

Additionally, Mr. and Mrs. King expressed gratitude to the community and emergency services for their help, saying that it had "deeply touched our hearts".

Southport MP Patrick Hurley posted on social media, stating: "Bebe King's funeral is today. Her family is in my prayers and thoughts during this trying time.

"In honouring their wishes for a private funeral, I encourage anyone who wishes to pay their respects to light a candle in Bebe's memory and to work for a better future."

The funeral of Alice da Silva Aguiar took place in Southport last Sunday.
