11 Hospitalized in London Pool Chlorine Leak
Following reports of a chlorine leak at a London swimming pool, emergency services confirmed that eleven people—nine of them were children—had been brought to the hospital.
Following the incident on Thursday afternoon at the Everyone Active sports centre in Wembley, two adults were also admitted to the hospital.
Road closures were in place, according to police, and the recreation center had been evacuated as a precaution.
"We were called at 1.34pm today to reports of a chlorine leak on Watford Road, Wembley," the London ambulance service stated.
"Ambulance crews, incident response police, and members of our hazardous area response team were among the many resources we dispatched to the scene.
"We treated two adults and nine children on the scene, and then we transported them all to the hospital."
The Metropolitan Police issued the following statement: "On Thursday, August 29, at 13:40 hours, police were alerted to allegations of a chlorine leak at a pool in Watford Road, Wembley.
"There are officers present, along with members of the London fire department and ambulance service.
"As a precaution, the recreation center has been evacuated, and road closures have been implemented."
The swimming pool "remains closed until further notice," according to a statement on the website of Vale Farm Sports Center.
