The newly formed Kazi Nazrul Islam Cultural Centre UK held its inaugural and introductory meeting at a restaurant in Whitechapel, London.
The event, convened at the request of the organisation's coordinator, Emadur Rahman, was presided over by esteemed community figure and renowned music artist, Mr. Alaur Rahman, with member secretary Shiblur Rahman serving as the moderator. Providing further guidance at the meeting was the Director General of the Bangladesh Kazi Nazrul Islam Institute and lyricist, Mr. Lathiful Islam Shibly.
In his address, Mr. Shibly emphasised the need to engage individuals from all levels of the community to disseminate Nazrul's legacy worldwide. He stressed the importance of working to introduce Nazrul to the new generation living abroad.
The organisation's coordinator, Emadur Rahman Emad, provided a detailed discussion on the scope of activities and future plans of the centre. He also elaborated on the preparations required for celebrating Nazrul Jayanti (the birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam) in the coming month.
Other notable speakers at the event included the President of the Combined Cultural Forum UK, poet Mohammad Iqbal; music artists Rowshan Ara Moni, Sohel Ahmed Sadiq, Jannat Kureshi, and Tahmina Akhtar Shipu; as well as vocalists Mir Abdur Rahman, Moynul Islam, Habibur Rahman Bablu, Kahar Salam, Salman Murad, Tajul Islam, E Bhuiyan Sumon, Apu Islam, Abu Taieb Kawsar, Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, Maksudur Mia, Sajmin Akhtar Parul, Sonia Tasmin, Abul Kashem Biplob, and Md. Mujibur Rahman, among others.
During the meeting, attendees expressed their strong commitment to working together to promote the spirit of Nazrul and Bangladeshi culture and heritage across the UK and globally.
