The individuals were residing in Kalimati, Ward 9 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. According to authorities, they tricked 13 Bangladeshi citizens by claiming they could help them secure jobs in countries such as Australia, Italy, Spain, France, and Serbia. Each victim paid $3,500 and was brought to Nepal on a tourist visa, totaling $45,500 collected by the suspects before they cut off communication.

Following a formal complaint, officers from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office in Teku detained the suspects at Shiva Satakshi Guest House in Sinamangal. They have since been transferred to the Kathmandu District Police Range for further investigation and legal action.
