A Community in Shock
In a story that has deeply shaken the Bangladeshi community, a son accused of the brutal murder of his 70-year-old father remains under police guard.
The Tragic Circumstances
Family members and neighbors have shed light on the distressing events. Mr. Bilat Mia, a long-time resident of Cardiff and a successful businessman from Bangladesh, was reportedly attacked in his sleep on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, and sustained multiple stab wounds.
The incident is understood to be linked to Saiful’s long-standing mental health struggles. His mother had reportedly shielded him until her passing from a terminal illness last year, and sources indicate that Saiful’s mental state deteriorated significantly afterward.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police confirmed that a 40-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has since been detained in a hospital under the Mental Health Act. The police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the investigation.
