Man Charged with Murder After Missing Person Found Dead in London

A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a missing person’s body inside an abandoned building in London.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that 39-year-old Daniel Watkis was arrested on Thursday and charged the following day in connection with the death.

The victim, Junior Ryan Coleman, had been reported missing on 20 August. His body was recovered on 19 September during a police search of a derelict property on Brockley Road in Lewisham at around 8.17am.

A post-mortem examination revealed he died from blunt force trauma to the head. Detectives subsequently launched a murder investigation on 20 September.

Watkis has been remanded in custody following an appearance at Bromley Magistrates’ Court and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on 24 October.

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Townsend, who is leading the case, expressed condolences to the victim’s loved ones.

“Our thoughts are with Junior’s family and friends at this very difficult time,” he said. “We are working tirelessly to uncover the full circumstances behind his disappearance and death.”
