Russia Launches Massive Drone Attack on Kyiv

Russia launched a large-scale drone strike on Kyiv early this morning, leaving at least six people injured, according to the city’s military administration.

In response, Poland temporarily closed the airspace around two southeastern cities, Lublin and Rzeszow, as its air force scrambled jets.

The assault began around 6am local time, with drones swarming over the capital and anti-aircraft defenses firing through the night. By 3am, Ukraine’s entire territory was under air raid warnings, data from the air force showed.

Many residents sought shelter in Kyiv’s underground metro stations as the attacks persisted.

Polish authorities confirmed that airspace restrictions would remain in place until at least 4am GMT due to “unplanned military activity linked to ensuring state security,” according to flight tracker Flightradar24.

Poland’s military said on X that Russian long-range aviation was striking Ukraine, prompting Polish and allied aircraft to operate in its airspace as a preventive measure to safeguard its skies and citizens.
