  • Daniel Simion Toader, 47, has been charged with murdering his long-term partner Loredana Morosanu at their Finglas home as gardaí continue to investigate.

Daniel Simion Toader, a 47-year-old Romanian national, appeared before a special sitting of Dublin District Court on Tuesday night charged with the murder of his long-term partner, Loredana Morosanu, at their home at Melville Terrace in Finglas, County Dublin, in the early hours of Monday morning.

The 48-year-old pharmacy worker, who was originally from Romania but had lived in Ireland for several years, was found fatally injured when emergency services were called to the property at approximately 4.30am on Monday, 26 October 2026. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Sergeant Niall Murray of Finglas Garda Station told Judge Máire Conneely that Mr Toader was arrested at 6.58pm on Tuesday and charged at 7.56pm with the murder of Ms Morosanu at their home address, contrary to common law. The court heard that the accused made no reply when the charge was put to him.

Daily Dazzling Dawn understands that the accused and the victim had been in a long-term relationship and shared the same Romanian country of origin, a detail that has prompted widespread shock and grief within both the Irish and Romanian communities in Dublin. Social media profiles belonging to the couple had, until recently, been filled with photographs of the pair together, images that have taken on a deeply poignant significance for those who knew them.

Tributes have been paid locally to Ms Morosanu, described as a hardworking and well-liked member of the community who had built a life in Ireland over several years. The pharmacy worker was remembered fondly by neighbours and colleagues in Finglas, where news of her death has caused deep shock.

The court heard that Mr Toader had eight consultations with a solicitor while in Garda custody, as well as one consultation just before coming to court. The circumstances of being charged, along with his situation and the consequences regarding bail, had been explained to him at length, the judge was told.

Dressed in a blue sweater, grey tracksuit bottoms and black shoes, Mr Toader stood with his hands in his pockets at the start of the two-minute hearing. He then sat and spoke only to a court-appointed interpreter. He had no legal representation in court, as most criminal law solicitors in Dublin have withdrawn their services in response to legal aid payment reforms introduced in July, causing widespread disruption to the criminal justice system.

Judge Conneely noted that the issue of bail did not arise, as the District Court does not have jurisdiction to grant bail in a murder charge, which requires an application to the High Court. Mr Toader was remanded in custody to appear again via video link at Clover Hill District Court on Tuesday, 3 November 2026.

Questions Remain Unanswered-  As the investigation continues, gardaí have not yet publicly commented on a possible motive, and the question of why the accused allegedly killed his longtime partner remains at the centre of intense local speculation and grief. Daily Dazzling Dawn understands that gardaí are continuing their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding Ms Morosanu's death.

The Office of the State Pathologist conducted a post-mortem examination, the results of which have not been publicly released for operational reasons. Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigations.

The case has resonated far beyond Finglas, drawing attention to the broader issue of domestic violence and the devastating impact it can have on families and communities. Local support services have reminded the public that help is available for anyone experiencing domestic abuse.

Mr Toader's next court appearance at Clover Hill District Court on 3 November will be closely watched, as the Director of Public Prosecutions continues to prepare the case. The accused remains in custody, and the investigation by An Garda Síochána is ongoing.

Daily Dazzling Dawn will continue to follow this case and provide updates as further information becomes available.
