The British government has taken the initiative to quickly send Bangladeshis whose asylum applications have been rejected in Britain back to Bangladesh under an agreement. Last year, around 11,000 Bangladeshis entered Britain on various visas and applied for asylum within 12 months with the intention of settling in the country permanently. They entered Britain on student, work permit and visit visa and applied for asylum. Of these, only five percent of applications are successful at the initial stage.
