11-Year-Old Detained in Middlesbrough Riots
According to police, an 11-year-old child was detained for causing disturbance in Middlesbrough during the UK riots.
In relation to the disturbances on Sunday, August 4, Cleveland Police reported that they had arrested an additional 14 individuals.
"Teams of officers headed out this morning to target those believed to be involved in the disorder," according to the police.
"The ages of those arrested were between 11 years old and 43 years old."
The 11-year-old is thought to be the youngest person arrested over the nationwide disorder that followed the Southport stabbings.
Cleveland Police said they had now arrested 110 people following unrest in Hartlepool and Middlesbrough earlier this month.
The operation to apprehend the suspects in the Middlesbrough disorder, led by Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Robinson, declared following this morning's arrests: "The message is 'You haven't got away with it'."
"We can identify you and we will arrest you, you will be arrested and you will be put before the courts," she continued.
"Behind every crime there is a victim and some of the stories that we have been told have been really harrowing," said DCI Robinson.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service, as of last Monday, over 520 persons had been charged in connection with the week-long unrest that occurred in towns and cities all around the United Kingdom.
