Premier Burt meets with Tulip Siddiq

The Economic Secretary to the Treasury, British MP Tulip Siddiq, met with Premier David Burt to provide an update on Bermuda's implementation of the global minimum tax accord. "Productive meetings continued in London, where I congratulated MP Tulip Siddiq on her new role as Economic Secretary to the Treasury," Premier David Burt wrote in a post on X, which included the image below.“During our conversation, I shared an update on Bermuda’s progress in implementing the global minimum tax agreement with the introduction of Bermuda’s corporate income tax, which will result in a fairer tax system in Bermuda.

“Grateful for the opportunity to share Bermuda’s story with the new Minister as the Government works to drive job creation and strengthen our economy through continued international business expansion.”

Premier David Burt, as well as other local officials, are in London this week participating in the annual Overseas Territories Joint Ministerial meetings.

Edward David Burt is the Premier of Bermuda and leader of the Progressive Labour Party (PLP). Burt is Bermuda's youngest ever premier, having taken office at the age of 38.

Between 2010 until 2014, Tulip served as Regent's Park's Camden London Borough Councillor. British Bangladeshi origin Mp Tulip is the niece of Sheikh Hasina, the former prime minister of Bangladesh.
