On Monday afternoon local time, the pre-arranged counter meeting of the Awami League and BNP was completed at both ends of the two streets of the British Parliament without any untoward incident. A large number of policemen were deployed on the spot.

General Secretary of United Awami League Syed Sajidur Rahman Farooq and General Secretary of United Kingdom BNP Kaisar M Ahmad both told me that permission was taken from the police to hold the meeting.

Members of the British Parliament Deputy Speaker Caroline Knox, Paulie Hamilton MP, Minister of State Jim McMahon MP, Emma Lowell Buck, MP O Afzal Khan MP, Richard Burgoyne MP, and Lee Anderson MP came and met the organisers of the rally, according to a press release from the organizers.  The release said. The leaders discussed with them the current affairs of Bangladesh and handed over a memorandum to them. 

 The United Kingdom Awami League President, freedom fighter Sultan Mahmud Sharif, presided over the rally, as did United Kingdom Awami League General Secretary Syed Sajidur Rahman Farooq. United Kingdom Awami League Vice President, Alhaj Jalal Uddin, Hormuz Ali, Joint General Secretary, Naeem Uddin Riaz, Maruf Ahmed Chowdhury, Organising Secretary, Abdul Ahad Chowdhury,Jamal Ahmed khan and others addressed the gathering. 

On the other hand, the United Kingdom BNP held a meeting and a memorandum to protest the nationwide student movement and the arrest and torture of BNP activists and a one-time movement to bring down the government. United Kingdom BNP President MA Malek addressed the meeting under the chairmanship of General Secretary Koysor M. Ahmed.
