A delegation of the UK Bangla Press Club held a view exchange and courtesy call on the newly appointed High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the UK, Abida Islam.
In this exchange of views held at the Bangladesh High Commission office in London on Wednesday, February 26, the former president and current advisor of the Press Club, veteran journalist KM Abu Taher Chowdhury, and club president Reza Ahmed Foysal Chaudhry highlighted the various contributions of the UK Bangla Press Club and Bangladeshi media in the UK to the overall organizational affairs of the club and various developmental activities of the community. The meeting, chaired by Press Club President and former Managing Director of Channel i Europe Reza Ahmed Faisal Chowdhury Shuaib, was attended by, among others, Treasurer Mahbubul Karim Sued, Joint Secretary Arif Mahfuz, one of the founders of the club Shoaib Kabir, Joint Secretary Shamsur Rahman Sumel, and member of the organization Md. Anwar Hossain. Also present was former President of Bangladesh Parliament Journalists Association Harun All Rashid.
High Commissioner Abida Islam said the relationship between the UK and Bangladesh is long-standing. The role of the media is one of the reasons behind the strength of this relationship. I believe that in the future, journalists will continue to play an active role in the development of the Bangladeshi community and Bangladesh. After the exchange of views, the newly appointed Bangladesh High Commissioner, Abida Islam, was greeted with flowers by the club. The High Commissioner was accompanied by senior embassy official Moumita Zeenat Mou.
