Reform UK Faces Legal Action Over Bullying Claims

Reform UK is once again embroiled in internal conflict after being served legal papers in connection with a lawsuit brought by staff members of MP Rupert Lowe.

The legal action stems from Reform UK's publication of an internal report on bullying allegations, which named several of Lowe’s staff. The staff members are now pursuing a libel case, separate from Rupert Lowe’s own legal action announced earlier this month against Nigel Farage and two other senior party officials. Lowe claims their public accusations—alleging bullying and verbal threats—have caused significant damage to his reputation.

Lowe, who currently sits as an independent MP, is suing Farage, Reform’s chief whip Lee Anderson, and party chair Zia Yusuf. He was suspended by Reform UK after Anderson and Yusuf jointly stated that the party had received complaints from two female staffers in Lowe’s office regarding serious bullying. They also accused Lowe of making at least two violent threats toward Yusuf.

The new legal proceedings, initiated on Wednesday, were filed on behalf of four individuals employed by Lowe. According to a statement from their legal representatives, the action follows the release of Reform UK’s internal report, which allegedly named the four without legal justification. One of those named was reportedly pregnant at the time.

The statement added that the individuals “strongly deny” the allegations against them and felt the need to respond publicly to set the record straight. They are seeking damages for the personal and professional harm they say the report caused, and are prepared to pursue the matter in court if necessary.

Reform UK declined to comment on the issue.

Lowe continues to deny all allegations and believes he was singled out after criticizing the party’s direction, calling for it to move away from what he described as Farage’s “messianic” leadership style during a media interview.

In March, the Metropolitan Police confirmed they were investigating the alleged threats made between December 2024 and February 2025.

Later that month, Reform UK released the findings of an inquiry led by a barrister, who concluded that two female staffers had presented "credible" evidence of bullying or harassment involving Lowe and his team.
