Sudan's newly appointed Prime Minister, Kamil Idris, has officially dissolved the country's caretaker government, according to a report by state news agency SUNA late Sunday.

SUNA did not indicate when a new government would be formed—this would be the first since the outbreak of conflict between Sudan’s military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Idris was appointed by Sudan's de facto leader, army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. Earlier this year, the RSF had announced intentions to establish its own parallel government with allied factions.

Idris was sworn in on Saturday, becoming Sudan’s first prime minister since the military coup in 2021. In his inaugural address on Sunday, he pledged neutrality toward all political groups and emphasized his commitment to restoring stability, ensuring security, and rebuilding the nation.
