Four people lost their lives in two separate shooting incidents in New Brighton, Gqeberha, in the Eastern Cape on Sunday night.
According to police spokesperson Nobuntu Gantana, the first shooting took place on Nikiwe Street, where two men and a woman were allegedly gunned down by two unidentified suspects who entered the premises and opened fire in the backyard. All three victims were taken to the hospital but unfortunately died from their injuries.
In a second, unrelated incident shortly afterward, a 52-year-old man was fatally shot while sitting inside his vehicle on Tshiwula Street. Gantana explained that two unknown assailants approached the car and fired several shots, hitting the man in the upper chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have opened two separate murder investigations and are urging anyone with information that could help identify or locate the suspects to come forward.
