South Wales Police have made a third arrest following a firearms incident in which a car was damaged by suspected gunfire on the A48 Clase Road in Morriston, Swansea, on Friday, 6 November 2026.
A 29-year-old man from Swansea was arrested on Saturday morning, 7 November, on suspicion of affray and possessing an offensive weapon. He remains in police custody, bringing the total number of people arrested in connection with the investigation to three.
The arrest follows two earlier arrests made within hours of the incident. A 41-year-old man from Llansamlet was detained on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, while a 16-year-old boy, also from Llansamlet, was arrested on suspicion of affray. Both remain in custody.
The incident was reported at approximately 4.15pm on Friday. South Wales Police said a vehicle on the A48 had sustained damage consistent with a firearms discharge.
An earlier police update reported that one person had sustained minor injuries. However, the force's subsequent statement said the injuries of a person who presented themselves appeared unrelated to the incident. Police said they were not aware of any injuries directly connected to the firearms incident.
The incident was declared a critical incident, and armed officers responded to the scene. Video circulating online appeared to show police officers beside a stationary car on Clase Road, near an Asda supermarket. A National Police Air Service helicopter was also seen circling the area before returning to base.
Residents were initially advised to avoid the area while police carried out their enquiries. Road closures were introduced, and a planned fireworks display organised by Morriston Town AFC was cancelled following police advice.
In a social media statement, the football club said the event had to be cancelled with immediate effect because of an ongoing police matter. It also advised people to stay at home.

South Wales Police later confirmed that all road closures introduced following the incident had been lifted.
Chief Superintendent Stephen Jones thanked residents for their understanding and support, acknowledging the concern caused by the incident in Morriston, Llansamlet and the wider Swansea area.
He said the investigation remained ongoing and that officers would maintain a visible presence to reassure the local community.
Police believe the individuals involved are likely to be known to one another. The force has stressed that it is not currently aware of any wider threat to the public.
Gwyn Williams, a Plaid Cymru Member of the Senedd for Gŵyr Abertawe, described the incident as frightening for local residents, adding that people in Swansea were not accustomed to hearing such news. He also noted that police had arrested two people in connection with the incident at the time of his comments and said there was no ongoing risk to the public.
Detectives from South Wales Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
