Mother Accused of Shooting 13-Year-Old Son in Home

A mother has been detained after allegedly shooting her 13-year-old son during a domestic altercation, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Ranch Oak Drive, located in the Remington Ranch subdivision in north Harris County. Authorities say they first received a call reporting a fight between the mother and her son inside their home. As deputies were on the way, a second call came in stating the child had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found the 13-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders quickly transported him to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition and is expected to survive.

Deputies detained the mother at the scene. Investigators are now working to determine what led up to the shooting, including whether the gun was fired intentionally or accidentally during the argument.

Child Protective Services has also been notified and may become involved as part of the investigation. The case will likely be reviewed by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to decide on potential charges.

Neighbors expressed shock at the incident, saying the normally quiet community has rarely seen such violence. Authorities have not yet released the names of either the mother or the child.
