Canada launches new work permit under the Innovation Stream

The Global Hypergrowth Project (GHP), initiated by Canada, aims to stimulate economic growth by promoting entrepreneurship and generating employment. A set of Canadian companies that will help them go from being big participants to global powerhouses have been selected by the GHP. This group was selected with the assistance of a panel from the private sector following a round of nominations and an application process. The Canadian government will help these companies grow by offering targeted, specialized assistance.The Global Hypergrowth Project (GHP) was started by the Canadian government to promote entrepreneurship and generate employment for the country's economy. A set of Canadian companies that will help them go from being big participants to global powerhouses have been selected by the GHP. 

If one of the employers taking part in the Global Hypergrowth Project (GHP) has extended a job offer to you in a highly skilled field. If so, you can apply through the Innovation Stream for a work visa that is tailored to your employer. Employer-specific work permits under the Innovation Stream have a $155 processing charge.You can work in Canada in accordance with the terms of your employer-specific work permit, including the name of the particular employer you can work for, the amount of time you can work, and the place where you can work.Before you submit your work permit application, your employer must submit an offer of employment, pay a $230 employer compliance fee and give you an offer of employment number.

You may be eligible for faster processing if your occupation is classified under Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) category 0 or 1 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system.

To be eligible to apply for a work permit under the Innovation stream, you must have a job offer from one of the employers participating in the Global Hypergrowth Project (GHP)

Have a job offer in a high-skilled occupation- This includes jobs in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) categories 0, 1, 2 or 3.

Have the required education and experience listed in the employment requirements section of the NOC for the occupation you plan to work

Your spouse or common-law partner and dependent children are eligible for an open work permit as family members of a high-skilled worker.
