The Prophet's Mosque, Islam’s second holiest site located in Medina, Saudi Arabia, welcomed 5.4 million worshippers and visitors last week, as reported by the state agency overseeing the site. Among these visitors, 376,765 Muslims prayed at Al Rawda Al Sharifa, the site of Prophet Mohammed's (Peace Be Upon Him) tomb.

The General Authority for the Care of the Prophet’s Mosque highlighted the smooth execution of crowd-management protocols, which included separate visiting schedules for men and women. Authorities have stressed that visitors must secure prior reservations and adhere to their designated times to ensure a smooth entry into Al Rawda Al Sharifa.

Additionally, 31,739 non-Arabic-speaking worshippers received assistance through multilingual communication services during their visit. The mosque’s maintenance included the use of over 24,000 liters of disinfectant for sterilization and disinfection purposes. Furthermore, 1,480 tons of Zamzam water were made available, and 136,283 fast-breaking (Iftar) meals were distributed at specified areas within the mosque.

Many pilgrims, after completing the minor pilgrimage of Umrah in Mecca, travel to Medina to pray at the Prophet’s Mosque and visit other significant Islamic sites in the city. In 2023, the mosque saw over 280 million Muslims come to pray.
